1840 Detailed Engraving by William Lizars, The Diodon of Sowerby

This print measures 4" x 6 1/2". It is a very detailed engraving with original hand-coloring by William Home Lizars, a Scottish painter and engraver (1788-1859). It is taken from volume XXVI of Sir William Jardines' NATURALIST'S LIBRARY published in Edinburgh and London, c. 1840. The top is marked plate 26. The bottom is marked The Diodon of Sowerby. J. Stewart del. Lizars SC. The detailed background is beautifully done. Good condition.
