Pyrography was an art form popular at the turn of the 20th century. The Flemish Art Company would sell kits that had a design stamped and the artisan would carved and burn the design. Sometimes they were painted. The rather large wall plaque is oval and measures 12" x 17". The back is stamped Flemish 860 Art. There is also a paper label. Someone has burned the inscription on the back as well_ From Roy to Dora (last name unidentifiable) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Some has penciled in 1909. The border is burned with oak leaves. The center is two ducks which are ready to be dressed for dinner. The portion of the wood between the ducks and the leaves has been carved out. There is a hanger on the top. There is a chip of wood missing on the bottom. This is unusual and very well done.
