Large Antique Tole Tray, Stenciled Border, Hand-Painted Seascape w/ Ship in Center

This circa 1800's tole tray measures 18 1/4" x 19". The tray has cut-out handle and rolled edges. The wide rim of the tray has a gold stenciled border over the black ground. The center of the tray has a wonderful seascape with a tall masted ship in the center. The water and the clouds make a fitting background for the intricately detailed ship. There are dents, rust on the back, all characteristic of its age. The tray displays beautifully.
