This chromolithograph was accomplished by Joseph Smit (1836-1929) and cut from the "PROCEEDINGS OF THE ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY" (PZS). This plate measures 9" x 6.5" It is marked on the bottom identifying the lithographer as J. Smit and the printer as M & N Hanhart. The PZS 1874 Pl IV identity is in the upper right hand corner. The Latin names of the birds are 1) SYNALLAXIS SUBCRISTATA (Crested Spinetail) and 2) SYNALLAXIS HYPOSITICTA (Speckled Spinetail) This is a lovely print and suitable for framing.
