This is a lovely fragment from a piece of needlework. I was originally done on silk with silk thread as well as gold threads. The image is of a basket of flowers. There are a variety of stitches used to depict the various parts of each flower. This could have been a part of a silk scarf or a piece of clothing. Sometime this portion was salvaged and applied to a brown felt backing preserving the exquisite work. The frame is gold on wood and worn. The bottom edge of the frame is missing the gold. I have photo'd this without the glass for it had a crack and to eliminate the glare. I am having a glass cut for the piece for its protection. The inside measurement is 10" x 12". The outside measurement of the frame is 13" x 15". Very nice formal decorative piece.
