This compote measures 7 1/2" in diameter. It may have originally had a lid. Now there is no lid. It was made by The Boston & Sandwich Glass Co, circa 1850-60's. In the 1880's this pattern was made by McKee & Brothers. The provenance that I acquired with this compote states as follows: "About 1865 my grandfather bought my grandmother a set of glass ware. Through the years I have added pieces." Whether this is an 1865 piece or an 1880 piece, I do not know. It is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, or scratches. There are bubbles in the glass and mould lines characteristic of pressed glass. I will be listing several pieces of this glassware.
