This Victorian needlework sampler is more decorative than the usual alphabet sampler. It has a wide border of flowers. There are five repetitions of the alphabet in various scripts and stitches. In addition there are two rows of decorative scrolls. In the corners on the bottom are blue flowers with leaves. It is not dated but has the name of the girl, Mary Jane Thompson. The sampler is framed under glass. The overall measurement is 19" x 20". The sampler is in excellent condition. I am sure some of the threads have faded from the original color, the existing colors are quite attractive. One of my best samplers.
