19th Century Engraving by Lear & Lizars, Pigeon

This bird print measures 4" x 6 1/2". It is a very detailed engraving with original hand-coloring by William Home Lizars, a Scottish painter and engraver (1788-1859. It is taken from a volume of Sir William Jardines' NATURALIST'S LIBRARY published in Edinburgh and London, c. 1840. The top is marked plate 28. The bottom is marked Glophilus Carunculatus (The Carunoulated Ground Pigeon. E. Lear del. Lizars SC. This is beautifully done. Good condition. The left edge is a bit rough.
