19th Century Engraving by LIZARS, Female Pheasant

This bird print measures 4" x 6 1/2". It is a very detailed engraving with original hand-coloring by William Home Lizars, a Scottish painter and engraver (1788-1859. It is taken from a volume of Sir William Jardines' NATURALIST'S LIBRARY published in Edinburgh and London, c. 1840. The top is marked plate 20. The bottom is marked Euplocomus Ignitus Female. Lizars SC. This bird is in the Pheasant family. This is beautifully done. Good condition.
