1840 Detailed Engraving by William Lizars, NIPHON SPINOSUS

This print measures 4" x 6 1/2". It is a very detailed engraving with original hand-coloring by William Home Lizars, a Scottish painter and engraver (1788-1859. It is taken from a volume of Sir William Jardines' NATURALIST'S LIBRARY published in Edinburgh and London, c. 1840. The top is marked plate 8. The bottom is marked NIPHON SPINOSUS. Lizars SC. This is beautifully done. Good condition.
