Antique Calling Card Case - Jeweled w/ Real Cameo - French
The glass jewels are all there, and the beautiful cameo is real and made of shell. It does not hold the business cards of today's size. This Calling card case was carried and a card left if they were a visitor to a home. Over 100 years ago. The cards, then, were made for social and personal reasons and not for business. Trade cards were used for business.
It is in very good condition and it lifts up from the top. It closes securely and in stable condition for latching up the case. There is an area on the back that is dented very slightly.There is some very tiny spots of patina. The gold metal looks very good. A grand and unique piece if you collect card cases or cameos. It is 3" by 2 1/4". It is marked "Made in France".
