"The Little Book of Excellent Recipes by The Mystery Chef" was a comprehensive cooking paperback produced by Davis Baking Powder and copyrighted 1934. In the introduction the Mystery Chef writes: "To the housewives of the world no tribute can be too great--no compliment can be too generous. They hold in their hands the health and progress of the family and thus, to a great extent, control the destiny of the world". Quite a statement!
Recipes in this vintage cook book include Carmel Custard, Mocha Layer Cake, Ghiveci Cu Carne and Noodles a la Mystery Chef to name just a few. There are black and white illustrations peppered throughout this booklet and a four page colored spread exalting the goodness of Davis Baking Powder. The cookbook is 102 pages in length. It is in good vintage condition with some light scuffing on the cover. The pages are clean and the binding tight.
