"Mother Goose's Melodies" was published by Hurst and Company, N.Y. and has no copyright date. From the materials used, the style of illustration and the composition of the book it appears to be from the turn-of-the-century. The pages are quite yellowed but don't have the same fragility you might see in books of this age. The book illustrates its rhymes with black and white illustration that are obviously from various artists. The book's cover states it is part of the "Santa Claus Series". The green cloth binding has a paste-down cover with a beautiful illustration of a little child on a rocking horse. The cover has some soiling, chipping at the corners and bottom edge and some creasing. The inside pages are yellowed, as mentioned before, there is some light soiling, one page has a tear (see pictures) and the binding is tight.
