Antique Black Bear Fur Ladies Hand Muff 19th Century

Antique Black Bear Fur Ladies Hand Muff 19th Century. This fabulous ladies fur hand muff from the late 1800s to early 1900s is made of long, luxurious Black Bear fur, lined in heavy black silk fabric, and has a round black Bakelite wrist bangle bracelet attached on one side for easy carrying when hands are not inside the muff.

In wonderful condition for its age, the thick black fur still has a nice sheen and minimal shedding. Fur on top of side areas, where hands are placed inside, have wear on the back edges from many years of use, but these aren't visible from front side of muff and do not detract from display qualities.

Nice quality black silk lining is intact with minimal wear; I see one small tear on the ruffled edges that surround holes for hands. When I place my hands inside, I do feel one small hole in the silk lining but the interior is roomy and both hands fit easily inside. The black bangle wrist bracelet is in excellent condition with no breaks but has 2 tiny edge nicks; it is attached to the muff with a black silk loop.

Measures approximately 14 inches by 12-1/2 inches; silk loop for bangle is 4-1/2 inches long; black bangle measures 3-5/8 inches diameter.

This stylish fashion accessory is perfect to display with period clothing and could certainly be used as well. Authentic antique for those ladies who dress for historical reenactments!
