Strawberry Goofus Glass Intaglio Console Bowl

Winding vines and strawberries highlighted with the deep colors of gold and berry red give this pattern an added dimension of depth. The scalloped edge adds to its overall beauty. This type of glassware is primarily decorative though the "carved" and painted pattern is done on the outside of the bowl leaving the inside smooth and safe to use. Goofus glass was manufactured and popular during the late Victorian era and into the Depression era. This glassware was predominant before the manufacturing of carnival glass.

Though there is some minor loss of paint, the console bowl has held up extremely well and is in beautiful condition. It measures 9 3/4" wide and 2 1/2" deep. The thick glass is 1/2" thick and very weighty (over 3 pounds). There is some minor roughness on the edge but no chips or breaks found. This is an Excellent example of glassware from the goofus glass period.
