This postcard was made from a real photo and the photograph itself carries a copyright date of 1907 by De Witt C. Wheeler (most likely the same De Witt C. Wheeler who copyrighted slides for silent movies in 1909). This circulated postcard carries a postmark and a canceled stamp. The year of the postmark date is illegible. In excellent circulated condition, the card has no bends or creases. There is very light age tanning on the address side. The card is part of an Illustrated Song Series No. 1817 and was published by Theodor Eismann, New York, and printed in Germany. The song lyric offered as a caption to the photo: "Without you the days so long and drear would seem." The Theodor Eismann publishing and printing company was known for their chromolitho printing process which they often identified as "Theocrome."
Other cards in this series are available also in this shop.
