These 8" Luncheon (or Salad) Plates are in J & G Meakin's "Hampton Court" pattern. This is a rather difficult pattern to locate. The pattern consists of chocolate brown & Yellow leaves, accented by burgundy & brown bell flowers or possibly Tulips, all on Meakin's Classic White shape. The shapely fluted ironstone plates by Meakin have scalloped edges and a band of the leaves and flowers. There are two of these plates. No chips, nicks, or cracks noted. One plate has very light crazing. The plates are marked; English Staffordshire Classic White which is the name of the shape. These also carry the pattern name: "Hampton Court" and the more elaborate back stamp noting the "Hand Engraving" and "Permanent Colors" marks often used in the 1970's.
