9 1/4" Flo Blue Soup Bowls (Set of 2)

Each of these Antique Bowls carry a centered Delft like design with a windmill and sailing ships. The rims have a 1/2" cobalt blue border that is scalloped, gilded, and embossed. The applied gold offers a lovely scroll and floral design. The beauty of Flo Blue dinnerware is often associated with European made dishes. These two large soup "plates," or bowls, were manufactured in the USA. Their centered Dutch design with a ship and windmill is shown on an almost identical flow blue plate in a book entitled: "Decorative American Pottery and Whiteware" by Jeanie Wilby, (page 173). The design is identified as being manufactured by the Ohio China Company in the early 1900's, sometime before 1920. The only manufacturer's mark on these bowls is a gold number 7 on the back. There is light crazing on both bowls which is typical of pottery from this era. The centered design on one bowl has some crazing as well causing it to appear a little smudged. Both bowls are free of chips or cracks and are in overall very nice condition. The bowls offer the clean crisp look that only blue and white china can. The price is for the pair!
