According to information derived from "The Lucile Project," this 7 1/2" x 5 1/2" version of LUCILE by Owen Meredith was published by Henry Altemus, Philadelphia in 1897. The classic book is a long romantic narrative poem in Excellent Condition. The front and spine have a decorated cloth binding with a medallion design. The book is profusely illustrated by George Du Maurier with full-page and text engravings of pen & ink illustrations. The book shows minimal shelf wear at the top and bottom of the spine only. The end papers carry a decorative gilded leaf design and there is a burnished gilding on the top of the pages. There is only light tanning of the sewn in pages.
