This is a selection of 8 vintage Military brass metal buttons that go from the Civil War through World War 1 WW1. They all have the Great Seal Eagle emblem. The largest measures 1 1/8 inch across marked HORSTMANN PHILA. The next one is the same size marked S. S. MEYER NEW YORK. One is 7/8" marked SCOVILL MF'G CO. WATERBURY. Another the same size has a copper front with the back marked HORSTMANN PHILADELPHIA. The next 4 are approx. 5/8" across. They all have back marks of HORSTMANN BROS. & Co. PHILA. or PHIL. They are 2 different types. I found at Button Back Marks HORSTMANN BROS & CO. / PHILA 1859-1863, HORSTMANN / PHILADELPHIA1893-1935, S. N. MEYER 1890-1925, and SCOVILL Mf''g Co. WATERBURY1850-1865. These are used with tarnish, dents, wear and bent back eyelets.
