This vintage box is marked BATAAN THE BATTLE OF THE PHILIPPINES. It is also marked MILTON BRADLEY CO. Springfield, Mass. Made in U.S.A. Inside the cover are instructions. The game is 4058 A game of Military strategy for two players. The folding game board measures approx. 18 ½ inches across. There are 50 yellow and 3 blue wood game pieces. According to the instructions this game is complete. The box cover has split corners, stains, tears, wear and sticker pull spots. I found on my search "Bradley's games followed the headlines. For example, Bataan, a board game for two players or teams, was built around MacArthur's defense of the Philippines, the first large scale American battle of the war. Unfortunately, the marvelous box art showing WWI-helmeted doughboys and US planes defeating Japanese troops did not accurately depict the actual event. It is well used but in good condition for collecting, use or display. One box cover side has come off.
