This antique brass Lockbox Mailbox door is marked only U and S on both sides of the key lock opening. The locking mechanism is missing. The frame measures approx. 3 ¾ inches by 5 inches. The door measures approx. 4 5/8 inches by 3 ½ inches. The door is on the hinges but the spring locking mechanism is missing. The frame has 5 attaching screw holes. There is a name plate with the number 90. The raised beveled glass measures approx. 2 ½ inches almost square. It is used with wear, tarnish, corrosion and missing the lock and key. There is a small chip in an upper corner. I searched many pictures and was unable to find this style with the almost square beveled glass and gear decorated locking hole with U and S on different sides. It appears to be from the late 1800s based on similar others. The US is shaped similar to another bigger one I sold from that time period. The screws have some rust. It is sold as is, based on not being complete.
