A pictorial history of the San Francisco Bay Harbor for 200 years. There are over 350 illustrations with text and extensive captions, present the maritime history of the bay area from its first recognized discovery by the Spaniard to the rapid rise of San Francisco during the Gold Rush to its present position as one of the great ports of the world. Numerous photographers, lithographers and artists who have captured the bay scene on paper, canvas, stone and film in the period since its discovery. The book was put together by John Kemble (professor of history in Pomona College, Claremont, California in 1957. Close to 200 pages the book is 11" x 8 ½" with a dust cover that does show some wear. Book is in very good condition.
