Vintage Hakata Figure Of Old Man Circa 1950s
This Hakata figure is of an old man sitting on a wood and straw mat. He is made of papier mache and measures 5 1/2" tall including his mat. His legs are crossed and he has both hands open palm side up. Their is a yellow bird in one hand with what I assume is bird food in the other hand.
His molded clothing is the traditional clothing of the Japanese in darker colors of gray, brown and green. He still retains his original sticker that reads, "Hand Painted Tilso Japan." He is circa 1950s. He is just sitting on the mat and not attached in any way.
Condition: Great. I have gone over him with a magnifying glass. It wasn't until I did this that I saw that the bird has been repaired. It looks like a little chip came off the inside of his head and was re-glued. Their is still a tiny piece missing. Please note that it is on the inside part and you do not see it from the front. Please refer to pictures.
As with all of my items he comes from a smoke free home. Did you know that if you live in the US and purchase a second item shipping is free?
