Steiff All Original Shepherd Doll Circa 1960

This is a wonderful Steiff Character doll from the 1960s. He measures 35 cm or just over 13" tall. His EAN number is 8735/00. He has an all felt body with movable arms and legs. His clothing are all felt. He has leather shoes. He is holding a staff type stick. His face is rubber with painted eyes and white fur eyebrows, mustache, beard and hair. He can be found in the Sortiment Book 1947-2003 on page 392. As you can see by his hand his air brushing is still bright and colorful. I also want to point out the red plastic bracelet around his wrist (please see picture) that is where the button and tag would have been attached.

Condition: His face has gotten darker with age. He does have a small hole on the side of his head. I plugged it so that the excelsior would not fall out. The hole is unseen when his hat is on. His cape on the right side is faded. Please see picture.

His overall condition is very good given the fact that he is 45 years old. I have never seen a steiff doll with a rubber face in this good condition. Usually the nose is cracked and broken. He has a wonderful face and makes a great presence. As with all of my items he comes from a smoke free home.
