Antique German Bisque Head Small Child Doll Circa 1890s

This is another doll from my own collection. When they are smaller they look so cute mixed in with the cabinet size dolls. This doll measures 8 1/2" tall. Her bisque socket head is attached to a 5 piece composition body. She is inscribed deeply on the back of her head 21//Germany. She must have been the first one out of the mold! This is actually a Gebruder Kuhnlenz dating from 1855 on. She has painted one stroke brows with upper and lower lashes, stationary brown eyes, an open mouth showing her upper teeth. The dimple in her chin is the best! Her mohair wig is a replacement. She is dressed in an antique muslin slip with a hand made antique cotton dress. The white cotton dress has several pin tucks down the front with wonderful antique lace around the hem line, neck line and wrist. Her black velvet cape is also hand made and trimmed in gold. Her shoes and stockings are replacement. Her black flannel hat is pinned in front with an antique pin.

Condition: Her bisque is perfect. No cracks or chips to her body. I do want to point out that her pate is flat. Therefore I have had to put some kleenex in her wig to make it fit properly. If her pate were rounded as it should be the kleenex would be unnecessary. Since I acquired her that way I never changed it.

This is one of the sweetest dolls! I love the molding of her eyes and how one eye is a different size then the other. In French dolls you look for the molding and the different size eyes, that is what makes your doll special! She makes friends easily and would get along very well with your other dolls. As with all of my items she comes from a smoke free home.
