Wall Pocket Early 1800s Brass and Copper Match Holder

We are pleased to offer this lovely Early 19th Century, Ornamental Wall Pocket, Match Holder. The beautifully shaped back plate is a nice heavy brass with the pocket made in copper with a brass bottom, a finely soldered seam joins the two parts. All the edges are softly rounded to the touch, from years of polishing. It measures 7 3/4" tall by 3 3/4" wide, the pocket is 1 1/2' high. Condition is excellent with no bends or dings, it has obviously been well loved and cared for since the early 1800s, it would be lovely beside a fireplace where it could catch the flickering light of the flames. A truly rare find from England. Please be sure to click on photo for enlargement and more pictures so that you can really enjoy this lovely piece.
