This super old English Pottery Plate is from the 1920s to 40s, and has a really well painted, colorful Parrot in red, gold,grey and black, perched on a branch with pink blossoms. There is hand painted fresh spring green, grass and leaves and a blue Butterfly, framed with a band of sky blue and a line of yellow ocher which is repeated on the rim. It has the square shape with rounded corners that was so popular at the time and is marked Burslem Ware, which was made by H.J.Wood in Staffordshire, where well known artist Charlotte Rhead worked. This is entirely painted by hand is quite a striking piece for any room in your house.
