Monkey Toothpick Holder Primitive

This very unusual and interesting primitive monkey toothpick is unglazed pottery. The monkey has a very realistic face and is well modeled with excellent detail as is the rope decoration on the drum that he is holding. I found him in England many years ago and he has been part of my own collection ever since. I was never able to date him, but he is definitely an old piece, probably early 1900s. He measures 3 ½" wide, 1 ¼" front to back, and 2" tall, and is in excellent original condition. A perfect addition for a collector of monkeys, or unusual toothpick holders. Please be sure to click on photo for enlargement and more pictures so that you can really enjoy this lovely piece and take a minute or two to check out some of our other treasures.
