This is a lovely old 19th century round brass bed warmer or foot warmer, has a brass screw cap with metal handle. I believe this to be English because I bought it there about 30 years ago, it is not marked but the old ones usually were not. These were used to warm up the bed in bedrooms that were often unheated, and also in carriages to keep your feet warm and cozy, under your lap robe. Because these were made to be used, there are a few dents and spots, but they just add character to the piece. It still holds water and will clean up to a fine shine if that is your choice. It measures 9 1/2" across, by 5 1/4 high. This would look so lovely on the hearth where it could capture the firelight's glimmer.
