This interesting Antique Wooden Shoe Last, has a wonderful patina that only comes with age, and years of use. It is decorated with a hand painted scene, of a girl riding a carousel horse, on a grassy knoll with a tree, it is signed by the artist L G. This lovely old shoe last is marked Vulcan 861, on the side of the heel, it also has a D, on one side of the throat, and a 12 on the other side. It would originally have been adjustable, with a metal slide in the center, so that shoes of several sizes could be made on the same last. It measures 8" long by 2 ¾" wide, and is in very desirable condition, with so many little tool marks where the cobbler molded his shoes around it. This has sat on my desk for many years, and was part of my collection of treen.
