This lovely Antique Majolica Dish is in the shape of a Begonia Leaf and would be from the late 1800s to the turn of the Century. The relief molded design has great depth and very vibrant colors, with many shades of green, golden yellow, and burgundy, with black accents. The leaf has very good detail showing every little vein. It is an impressive 11 1/2" long, and 8 1/4" wide. The condition is good overall, but it does have an old chip on the rim, towards the point of the leaf, other than that there is just the normal wear around the rim and high spots, and crazing, which adds to the character of this lovely old piece of Majolica and is not unusual on Majolica over 100 years old. It is not marked. This is a delightful piece of Victorian Majolica which would be a welcome addition to any collection. This and several other pieces, were from an Estate Sale that we found on our recent buying trip up north.
