I have seen many hand painted brooches, but this one is really outstanding. The quality of both the porcelain, and painting is excellent, and the subject very unusual. It features a proud Peacock, standing on a wall with roses below, and the sunset over a lake in the background, the colors are superb. The rim is gilded, and it measures 2" wide by 1 7/8" tall, the brass back plate is inset into the back of the porcelain, and has the old style C clasp, plus a loop which would work for a safety chain, or for a ring to hang as a pendant. This would be from about 1925 and if you love antique jewelry you will want to add this one to your collection.
