We are pleased to offer this very desirable large antique platter, perfect for your holiday entertaining. It is in the Grecian design by in gray on a white earthenware or pottery. The rim has a design of leaves and vines, repeated four times, and an outer border which is a series of contiguous arches, each containing a small tree, which is bordered with a band of dots on one side and a saw tooth design outer border. The well of the platter has an attractive central design, framed with a bellflower border. This sturdy earthenware platter measure 16 1/4" long, 13"wide, and 1 ½" deep, and was made by John Thompson, of Glasgow, Scotland, and marked with the pattern name, and an impressed T, which dates it between 1816 and 1865. It is in excellent antique condition, with a light all over crazing found on pottery of this age, and has been well cared for, and held many holiday turkeys and hams.
