This dainty Late Victorian Portrait Vase is a very fine quality porcelain, with an elegant shape and a slender neck. It features a beautiful lady in a large brimmed period hat decorated with two red Roses, worn perched high atop a powdered wig. There is a glimpse of tranquil water and trees in the background, and the cartouche is framed with a decorative gold border. The vase is a cheerful sunny yellow with a gold rim, and stands 5 1/2" tall and 2 1/2" across at the base, and is in mint condition. The only markings are an embossed 2872 and a gold 10, which would be the decorators mark. I believe this to be German or Austrian late 1800s to the turn of the century. An exquisite little vase to display, or to use with a single Rose on your breakfast tray or bedside table.
