Early 1800s Retractable Bone and Red Silk Sewing Tape

This wonderful Antique Red Silk Sewing Tape is encased in bone, it is rewound by turning the finial on top. The tape does not have printed markings like the later ones, the inches are hand drawn in ink, the end of the tape is wrapped around a small piece of bone to prevent it from being wound in too far. This dates around 1850 and measures 3/4" wide by 1 3/4" high, the condition is excellent, a rare find.
