This vintage needle tin is partially full of the steel needles used to play 78 records on wind up phonographs like Victrolas. On the front it has a nice picture of an external horned phonograph like the Victor. On the hinged lid it reads; 200 Highly Refined Steel Needles - Made in Germany. Inside is a black paper liner with gold edges that has writing that I would assume to be German.
It measures about 1 5/8" by 1 5/16" by 1/2" and is in good condition showing minimal wear although some of the gold is worn off of the lid edges. The sides of the tin were probably gold but are no longer and the gold is partially worn off the bottom as well. The needles appear unused but may not be original to the tin.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
