This vintage ring box has a shield like shape and is a cream colored Bakelite. The top of the domed lid has a raised design that is reminiscent of the deco period. The base around the lid is detailed with a tiny pattern that is enhanced with a pale gold paint. Inside is a pale, bluish lavender, velvet like pillow with a slot in which to display an antique ring. The advertising fabric insert in the hinged lid reads; A.H. Sonnedecker Jeweler with a Los Angeles, California address. The bottom of the box is marked; Buffalo - J.C.Co. Buffalo N.Y. - Pat. Appl'd For.
It measures about 2 11/16” at the widest by 2 ½” front to back by 1 3/8” high when closed. It is in very good condition with minimal wear. The hinge works well.
