This decorative little spoon is a vintage souvenir from Towle’s, the maker of Log Cabin syrup. The elaborate handle has a log cabin at the top with the words “Towle’s Log Cabin” on the roof. Apparently the cabin trademark was due to Patrick Towle’s admiration of Abraham Lincoln and the shank of the handle is reference to a maple tree from which the sap comes. This was probably a “product premium” which may have come with a purchase or have been sent for. It is smaller than a teaspoon but slightly larger than most demitasse spoons. It is not marked but I assumed that it is silver plate and I believe it is from the early 1900’s.
It measures about 4 3/8” long and is in good condition with minimal wear or discoloration.
