These vintage, New Years postcards have the common theme of a lucky horseshoe. Both cards were made in Germany.
On the first postcard the greeting is on a scroll that is hanging from the bottom of a horse shoe which is surrounded by little blue flowers and four leaf clovers. Inside the horseshoe frame is what appears to be a castle. It is heavily embossed and enhanced with gold. It has no correspondence, stamp or postmark on the back. It measures about 3 ½” by 5 ½” and is in good condition with minimal edge and corner wear.
The second card is very pretty. It is lightly embossed and is wishing the recipient Best Wishes for a happy New Year. It features a winter scene framed by a snow covered horseshoe trimmed in holly. There are also two birds perched on the holly twigs. The back has correspondence, a stamp and what looks like a 1910 postmark on the back. It measures just over 3 ½” by 5 ½” and is in nice condition with minor edge and corner wear and soiling.
Priced and sold as the pair.
