This jolly fireman is a vintage flask or nip made by the Schafer & Vater company of Germany in the early 1900's. The plump and smiling fireman is dressed in black attire and holds a fire hose. It could also be considered a souvenir since under the words FIRE WATER it is stamped Starved Rock. On the bottom it is stamped; Made in Germany over the embossed S & V mark. It has the original porcelain capped cork closure.
It measures about 4 5/8" high and is in very nice condition with minimal wear. On the top of the helmet there is an apparent factory flaw. Two of the three points are crude but have been factory painted and are not damaged.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
