This vintage, metal jewelry box is simple in its Art Nouveau design and unique in the fact that it is made of aluminum. The hinged lid is ever so slightly domed and has the word “Jewels” framed by a flowing relief design. The aluminum is a matte finish except for the relief which is polished. The rectangular box sits on four ornate, stamped metal legs and the corners have small metal reinforced fastener details. The inside has a pale blue, satin like fabric lining. There are no makers marks that I can see but I would assume this is from the early 1900’s.
It measures about 6 1/8” wide just above the legs by 4 1/8” deep and 3” high. It is in good condition with minor scratch and scuff wear and tiny dents. The lid fits snuggly hinges are in good condition. The lining inside is in fairly good with light wear and fading. There are holes in the fabric inside the lid where pins had probably been kept.
