This wonderful, vintage, sterling silver rattle is also a baby’s teething ring. It is fashioned in the shape of a bell with an object inside that makes it rattle. It is beautifully detailed with a weighted clock with Roman numerals in the center. There is a ribbon draped across the top and down the sides. At the top it reads; Birth Record. To the left of the clock weights is; Month and on the right side is; Year. It has not been engraved on this side. On the back side it is engraved; Cathy. At the top of the back it is marked Sterling with the hallmark for the Webster Company of Attleboro Massachusetts which was a subsidiary of Reed & Barton. The bell is attached to a round, flat teething ring by a detailed strap with a buckle that is a stationary piece, not operable. The teething ring is made of a white mother of pearl plastic material.
The bell portion including the loop at the top measures about 1 1/4" high by 1 1/8" wide and 7/16" thick. The teething ring portion measures about 1 3/4" in diameter and the total length is about 3". It is in very good condition with minimal wear.
