Housed in its original, pink plastic box is this Singer model 489510 Buttonholer. The case has several nicknames including clamshell, torpedo, bullet, Jetsons and Rocketeer. This vintage attachment is for making professional looking buttonholes on Singer, slant needle sewing machines. Apparently this works with models 401, 403, 404, 411, 500 & 503. It is NOT for the Featherweight model. It comes with a total of five cams, the knurled screw for attaching it to the sewing machine, the feed cover plate with its screw and the instruction booklet. The body is made of a cream colored plastic over the metal mechanism. The booklet has a 1960 copyright date but this particular attachment was originally purchased new in 1965 for $10.95 plus tax!
The attachment is in very good condition with minimal wear. The plastic box is also in good condition but the lid is apparently warped slightly so the top and bottom do not come together completely as shown in the photos.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
