This vintage, pedestal, apothecary or candy jar was probably used in a soda fountain or general store. It's an early style probably dating from the early 1900's. It has a large round fish bowl like globe on a simple pedestal base. It has a large mouth with a seated lid that has a hollow knob on the top. It has opposing mold seams on the globe, base and lid. The glass has bubbles and stretch marks. This may have been used for wrapped candies or sundry items like sponges since the lid is not frosted for an air tight fit.
It measures about 12 3/4" tall. The globe measures about 8" in diameter and the base about 5 1/4". The opening at the top measures about 4 3/4". It is in very good condition with minor wear. Besides the stretch marks or streaks there is some light scratch wear. The mold seams are rough but there appears to be no damage.
