This is a proof set of 1961 coins which was issued by the United States Treasury Department. The five un-circulated coins come in their original, sealed, cellophane-like sleeve which is sometimes referred to as a flat-pack. The set includes;
Benjamin Franklin Half Dollar (90% silver) George Washington Quarter (90% silver) Thomas Jefferson - Five Cents Franklin D. Roosevelt Dime (90% silver) Abraham Lincoln - One Cent Silver-Foiled paper token - U.S. Mint - Philadelphia
The mylar comes with the envelope from the Treasury Department, the two pieces of cardboard and sheet of paper explaining the coins and the oxidation which will occur.
The sleeve measures about 3 ¼” by 5 3/8” and is in good, undamaged condition. The coins inside are very good, only the penny and the nickel show minor discoloration. The envelope measures about 3 ½” by 6” and has some issues. It was sliced open across the top edge and it has several old pieces of tape on it, a few spots of rust or perhaps ink and it has been written on with some of the information crossed out. The paper, information sheet has a creased corner.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
