This vintage tin once held Yale Mixture Smoking Tobacco and was marketed by Marburg Bros. of Baltimore, Maryland, The American Tobacco Company, Successor. The sides of the tin is far more interesting than the top of the hinged lid which basically just has a simple design along with the name and other written information. The front edge has a young man in cap & gown smoking a pipe. It also reads; A Grand Combination of Choice Tobacco. The description on the back edge reads; Yale - Manufactured of St. James Parish, Louisiana, Perique, Genuine Imported Turkish, Extra Bright Plug Cut, Extra Bright Long Cut, and Marburg Bros. Celebrated Brand "Pickings" Granulated Tobacco. Sounds very impressive! One end reads; Factory No.2 District of MD. and the other end has a detailed picture with a pipe and humidor and what appears to be a water pipe. The inside of the lid has a sales pitch that begins; Yale - A Gentleman’s Smoke.
It measures about 4 1/2" by 3 3/8" by 2 3/16". The condition is very nice with minimal wear mostly along the edges and corners of the lid and hinge. The litho is crazed from age.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
