This wonderful, vintage, milk glass egg has a rather comical decal applied to one side along with some hand painted decorations. It is blown into the shape of a large chicken egg with a pontil mark on the small end. On one side is an old decal with a man sitting in a very small, open car. The man is wearing a hat and smoking a large cigar. The front of the car features the portrait of a woman. With a 10x loupe, the man’s face looks vaguely familiar like, perhaps, a politician of the time, but it’s hard to say. It seems obvious that it was some sort of spoof. Below the decal are tiny hand painted flowers. The egg was made to be slightly weighted so it always rolls to having the decal on the top. It is a very unique glass egg and is probably from the early 1900’s
It measures about 2 3/4” long and slightly more than 6” in circumference. It is in good condition with minimal wear to the decal and no damage to the glass. There is a little fleck off the top part of his hat, otherwise the rest of the decal is intact. The painted flowers are slightly worn.
