This vintage tin toy is one version, I believe the first, of the Marx Moon Creatures. He is also similar to Chompy the Beetle which was also a popular toy made by the Louis Marx & Company. The front of his colorful body is yellow and white striped. His back is white with blue circles on it and lines to indicate beetle wings. He has bulging plastic eyes with black discs inside that float about and on top of his head he has his original, rubber antennae. His arms are pinned and swing loosely by his side as he moves about. When wound by the attached key the robot moves forward opening and closing his mouth, making a clicking sound and a space alien squeak. On the lower left of the back he is marked with the Marx logo with a 1968 copyright. On the lower right it reads; Made in Japan.
It measures about 5 7/8” to the top of the antennae and is in very nice, working condition with minimal wear. It colors are bright with nice gloss and there is minimal scuff wear.
