This vintage toy bank is in the shape of an old, one-armed bandit, slot machine. When you place a coin in the slot on the front and then pull down on the lever on the right, the reel spins just like to make it look like a gambling device. This can be used in the “Jackpot” or “Play” mode. One keeps your money and the other shoots the coin out from the slot at the bottom. Of course even if you use in in the savings mode it is simple enough to remove the little cover off the back so you can empty out the money. On the front it has 1c - 5c - 10c so it’s not for the big spender. The front portion of the case is made of chrome looking pot metal and the back of the housing is plastic. The panel on the front has a paper decal with a miner and his donkey. It was manufactured by Reno Plastic Mfg. Co. of Sparks Nevada and the patent number dates it to the late 1960’s.
It measures about 5 3/4” high by 3 ¼” wide, not counting the handle, and 2 5/8” deep. It is in good, working condition with minor scratch wear, mostly on the plastic. There are a few stains on the paper decal on the front.
It comes with its original box that has graphics that look somewhat like the bank There is a circular cut-out on the front that shows off the miner. On the box it reads; A Product of Nevada and Not a Gambling Device. The box measures about 5 ¾” by 4” by 3” and is in fairly good condition with some small tears, creases and edge wear. The top has a has a torn spot where there was probably a price sticker. There is also a hole on the back where the little lever poked through.
